Expedition Basics
When exploring the Atlas, you might notice specific maps marked with Path of Exile 2 Currency Expedition icons. These maps contain Expedition encounters where the adventure begins.
Upon entering an Expedition map, you'll meet one of four NPCs - Rog, Dannig, Tujen, or Gwennen - who stand near a burial site dotted with Monster Markers, Remnants, and Chest Icons.
Explosives: You start with 5 explosives to strategically place around the map to uncover monsters and chests.
Accessing Explosives: Press the V key or click the explosives icon at the bottom of your screen.
Remnants: These are special markers that buff monsters and their drops. Monsters unearthed by explosives detonated on or after a Remnant will be affected by its modifiers.
Planning Your Explosive Placement
The sequence of your explosive placement is vital. Unearthing powerful Remnants early will buff subsequent monsters, increasing your rewards, but also ramping up difficulty. Balancing this risk versus reward is key to a successful Expedition.
After placing your explosives (highlighted by a green ring showing what will be unearthed), activate the Detonator to set off the chain of explosions. Survive the monsters to claim the rewards from all revealed chests.
